Dear Ann,
I wanted to write to tell you a little story about one of your paintings, "Rosso".
My girlfriend, Madeline, and I had seen that painting on display at the Louis Martini tasting room and we loved it.
I talked it over with Alfonso, Madeline, and even called you, and mulled it over on my own for a couple of days.
I had decided to buy "Rosso" and was absolutely heartbroken to discover it had already sold.
I had a sneaking suspicion Madeline had something to do with it, but she denied it flat-out when I asked her, and she never lies.
For nearly two years I regretted not acting sooner. I still held out some hope Madeline had something to do with it.
Two weeks ago we got engaged in Hawaii. After she calmed down, she told me that she also had something for me. I was ecstatic to hear it was the painting!
We hung it up in our apartment here in Palo Alto shortly after we returned, and it steals the show. It is just as beautiful as I remembered it, and now all the more meaningful.
